Dailiny Castro
Bio
Dailiny Castro is a photographer and youtuber raised in Lawrence, MA. She began capturing images with her iPhone 4 when she was in middle school, later graduating from Greater Lawrence Technical High School where she studied graphic communications and purchased her first camera, a Canon rebel T5i in 2017 which she still uses till this day to create artwork. Dai photographs everything so as to not put herself in a box.
Statement
I love the idea of capturing a moment because things change overtime and as Bad Bunny once said, “Nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana.”. The meaning behind my artwork is evolution, as I push myself to photograph everything. I love the freedom that it brings me, being able to capture something that will live on forever is me adding to herstory. When it comes to inspiration for my work I get inspired by my surroundings such as nature and the city. When I spot a nice location, my mind is flooded with the images that I can create.
For this series I wanted to capture the essence of spirituality through my eyes especially because spirituality looks different for everyone. Grounding yourself and surrounding yourself with nature will always be healing when it comes to figuring things out. I went from within and worked with the emotions I’ve been feeling this year for the project. When fully tapping and pouring into oneself you discover that you can truly overcome and be anything you want to put your mind to. The world is yours, so you decide what you want for the long road!
